Headless in Canton, CT

All accounts of other headless horseman enhance the "Commander-in-Chief's" power. See this intriguing tale of a decaptitated French Officer found in "Hosburg Stand" now Canton Connecticut. Look out for why the body loses the head!

Dav, a fan brought this tale to my attention. Ray Bendici, as I note in my comment on his article, rightly gives sources helping us trace the seed of truth growing out this Canton headless entity.

Again, finding yet another ghost riding purposefully and wantonly without his knoggin, reveals our collective communal hopes and fears. We hope our history will be remembered. If not, a ghost rises to remind us!

Here we are reminded of the behind the scenes struggle for American Indepedence. The French pay master falls in with a murderous inn keeper. This shows founded fears of robbers in the 18th and 19th centuries. More importantly, we see the challenge of getting support to forces during those trying times. Plus, the headless ghost embodies French sacrfice for America's cause.

As storyteller of "The Legend" in Sleepy Hollow I must poke fun at the 'Connecticut scarcecrow of a schoolmaster, Ichabod Crane.' Discovering the old Nutmeg state has a headless horseman rather vindicates the Yankee teacher/lawyer!
